St Mary Magdalene is part of the Diocese of Rochester in the Church of England. Although our church building is undoubtedly of great historic value and interest, it is much more than that. It is a church which is still very much in use for regular worship by a lively, welcoming and committed congregation.
The site the church occupies has been used by the people of Gillingham for around a thousand years to worship God. People have gathered in this same building over the centuries to share with God their times of joy and celebration as well as their times of sadness and fear. The coming and going of the generations have been marked here by the Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals of the people of this community and one can sense a feeling of their worship and their presence within its walls.
Today we continue this tradition with regular worship and a welcome to everyone, both local residents and visitors alike.
